I just searched for the old post you mentioned. The Seiko Sony looks much more refined than this. The one I have must have been for people they didn't like much 😀

That is very interesting, I'd searched Claro but only for the movement, not the case style. It makes sense, although IMO would be at odds with a "high tech"company like Sony's brand to offer mechanical watches in what I assume would be the 70s/80s instead of a Casio or game watch. I'll do some more research. Thank you!
have a look at some of the mecha quartz or some automatic Dan Henry at this price, they look and feel like they are worth more. plus various styles and configurations to pick. i'd go for something like this at $290 https://danhenrywatches.com/products/1970-automatic-diver-watch which has a Seiko movement.
Agreed it’s the one I liked the most. In the shop I had a few choices. I liked the Mars one but it’s very bright red, it’s the hands of the subdials on that watch.
