Hey Art, welcome to WC. I think we’re all suffering from watch prices these days. Personally, I’ve been focused on my love of vintage watches which tend to be cheaper. Then again, they come with their own set of issues. Whatever the case, I think if you look around you’ll see lots of options at lots of different price points.

Department stores have been struggling in North America for the last couple of decades (or more), and the only one we have left in Canada is The Bay.  They had a tremendous sale recently, which I announced here on WC, and they are almost constantly running specials in various departments to get people into the stores.  They only carry a few good lines plus the usual fashion junk, but it might be worthwhile to keep an eye on their advertising.

Las Palmas at Canaria WAS a paradise (in the tourist area) for Japan made and some Swiss watches, because nobody came there to buy watches and there was almost too many shops...

So you could often buy any attractive model (somewhere and after smart bargains) for 10 usd above the "cost price" and that was dramatically cheaper than in Hong Kong or Japan...

But then did they begin with a low town tax and 75% of the shops did also close...

But I guess you still can buy fine Japan watches there, clearly cheaper than anywhere else!

I bough my first exclusive watch there over 30 years ago and many watches to my friends...

And two more of about 20 watches I bought there, for 40 to 60% of the price in Sweden...
