Just Arrived !

This is my second Nivada Grenchen watch.  I decided on the manual wind version since it's thinner than the automatic.  My other Nivada is the Super Antarctic which has turned into a main stay.  This is a great brand.

Never heard of this brand, but going to check them out now.  Beautiful watch!

What a looker! I pre-ordered a hand-wind chrono from sister brand Excelsior Park (which Guillaume also helped revive) and am waiting with bated breath.

I wasn't aware of Excelsior Park until you mentioned them.  Those look great !  What color did you get?  Send pictures when it shows up.

I'm a sucker for both salmon dials and Art Deco, so that one. I will probably do a full review when it comes!

How do you feel about this a month on?

How do you feel about this a month on?

I'm still loving the watch. It's my first manual wind movement and I'm glad I picked that version due to the overall height.  I wanted the panda dial but it took me awhile to pick between the hand options.  If I did it all over again, I might pick the gilt hands for legibility.   I still like the overall look of the white on white.  However, there are some low light conditions that make me wish it had more contrast between the hands and dial.   It looks like there are several more color variants coming out shortly.  There are some pictures of them on the Nivada Grenchen Facebook page.  As a brand, they are amongst my favorites now.  My Super Antarctic is so comfortable, it's hard to take it off.

That’s awesome. I’m rather keen on their new colors and have thought about getting one down the road. I’ve never had a hand wound movement but I like these a lot. I could see the low light being a smudge of an issue but I like these a lot. Thanks for the report.

I have had crown and lume issues with my Super Antarctic. What about you?

The crown is a little small; however, I haven't had any issues with the watch yet.   Mine is black with white indices.

Thank you. I've returned one do to lume differences and the second due to crown cross threading upon arrival. The third one has lume differences and the crown is difficult to operate. Never had so many issues with a watch. I got the white lumed version also.

Did you have better luck with your most recent watch?  I decided to get the vintage 3-6-9 black dial SuperAntarctic.  It will live on a leather strap and get used mostly indoors.  It still hasn't shipped after more than 10 days.

Their customer support and quality control is the worst. It takes a very long time for the watches to arrive also. I did not attempt to return the last watch. Thanks for reaching out.

How do you like the bezel action? I know it's non-clicking, so wondering how well it stays in position as you wear it? Appreciate your feedback

The bezel action is simple and easy with enough friction to make it functional as a basic timer. However, I wouldn't trust my life with it.
