Vintage Elgin

The voters have voted. They have been counted. The results are in. This vintage Elgin with it's beautiful linen dial will live on as it is. I was already thinking that this watch was too nice to dissect. I wouldn't be doing justice by ruining one piece of art to fix another one that isn't quite as nice. I will be changing the bracelet though. Whomever had it before me has it on upside-down and I think it deserves something nicer looking. It is a little tight when adjusting the time. This issue will have to be addressed. Thank you everyone that voted. You are the best!!

Well played sir! It's a beauty. Linen dials are pretty rare in modern watches and they attract dirt and moisture like nobody's business in vintage ones. That makes them deteriorate quickly. Yours is in exceptionally good condition, I'd say.

I had a linen dial phase. The shellac/sealant that is placed over the dial browns with age and exposure to UV light. That was probably a light cream once upon a time. I know this was:

I am glad that you opted to save it.

No messing it up. It's staying as is. She's a beauty.
