Admired this watch for a while. Gift from the family. It fits perfect on my 7.25 inch wrist - but I also like them bigger. Always loved the clean (no date), mid-century American look.
Not sure why Hamilton considers it a "field watch," though, since it seems to fit more in the pilot category (cathedral hands, no 24-hour numerals). Look forward to trying it with different straps - brown leather and NATOs. Anyone gone full "pilot" with it on a leather strap with rivets (à la IWC)? If so, please post.
One-watch guy (quartz Swiss Army) until just recently, when I realized I was missing out on some great pieces of mechanical art. Interested in the old US companies and those reviving the look mid-20th...
Is this the 42mm?

Yes

Emojis do not do it justice. Well done.

Just trying on my Bond strap as you were posting. My wife says she likes it better than the black leather. So, you know it's staying like this for a while...
Your wrist will like it better, too. Why does Hamilton sell such great watches with such awful straps?
Yes, but I do like the brown leather strap that came with my Khaki Field 44mm.
And I believe a dark brown leather IWC-style strap might work better for the Murph. Any suggestions on good-quality brands that won't break the bank?
Yes
That's the one I am planning on buying in the next few months. I have an 8" wrist so I think it will fit fine. Did you get a discount on it? My AD is offering 20% off.

Yes, it was 25% off at Macy's. It should fit you great, but beware -it is like looking at a mirror sometimes without the AR coating. Worse than I expected.
I just read that the 38mm has AR coating but the 42mm doesn't? Who made that decision?

Just the 38mm. But I was just in an AD today, comparing both. The 38mm is better, but not by much.
Fresh from Hamilton customer service: "After receiving your message, I forwarded it to our internal team. They have gotten back to me, and informed me that the reason that the 38mm Murph has AR coating, while the 42 mm did not, is because the Murph 38 mm was made because of customers' requests. All the criticism from the 42 mm Murph was taken into consideration when making the 38 mm Murph. This is why the 38mm Murph has AR coating and the 42mm version does not."🙄

Well, that's just a PR way of saying "We didn't think about it until everyone complained." Despite the fact that there are a lot of cheaper watches out there with AR coating . . .
In fact, I'm considering whether it would be possible (and cheap enough) to have a watch maker switch out the crystal for an AR-coated one.
