Do you like a loud tick in a watch?

It seems all watch reviews particularly quartz, people are always complaining about a loud tick sound. I personally love it when I can hear my watch ticking… so I’m wondering if I’m alone in this.

Hearing the tick say a lot about the watch. I have two loud tickers my Swatch and Timex. I think they should both collaborate.

For me, it depends on the price point and the watch.   A low cost or a vintage watch can be forgiven for loud ticking. That being said, there are some watches I own just for the sounds they make(ie hum of the tuning fork movement).

Lol yes, it does seem to be my Timex watches that I notice it in.

but my seagul chronograph has a very nice lou tick as well. Maybe it means something is no 100% right, but it works and I love the sound.

It's how you know it's running, and how you know that your time alive is ending.  Seriously, in my teens a Camper-esque resin-bodied cheapo field watch was so loud that it gave me a constant tempus fugit awareness that life was passing by in the same way that stopwatch ticking sound effect on 60 Minutes let you know the weekend was almost over.

Except for the very egregious offenders (low end Timex, Swatch, and other under $50 type stuff) my hearing isn't good enough to hear anything at point blank range, so this is rather moot for me to be honest.

Oh boy don't give anybody ideas about the smell of straps.🤣

Back in the day every time you hear something ticking brought back that old show 60minute. You hear the stop watch ticking.
