Hamilton PSR as a daily?

I have owned many mechanical watches, but being a child of the 90s, I have a soft spot for digital watches. I especially appreciate the few premium digitals out there, such as the Tissot PRX digital (my usual daily driver) and the Autodromo Grouo C, both of which I own.

One of the other premium digitals I’m eyeing is the Hamilton PSR. It has a great story and very cool design. I’m interested in picking up one second hand, but before I do, I was going to ask if anyone who has owned one wears it daily? I like the idea of it as a GADA watch, but not sure if it fits the bill. Also, I do have a small ~6.4 inch wrist. It has beefier dimensions. Does it still look OK on a smaller wrist? Finally, overall impressions of it would be appreciated. Thanks!

My Dad wore one for most of the late 70's/early 80's, in fact I'm pretty sure he wore it for the first ever London Marathon. 👍🏻

Those remind me of some of the first affordable LED watches that were all the fashion when I was in Jr. High/High School back in the mid/late 70's ... I remember that they used to EAT batteries (as did the new-fangled LED pocket calculators of the time!) LOL!

Wasn't long after that though, that the LCD watches (which didn't require the "two-handed" technique to read the time) came on the scene and the LEDs were all but forgotten about ...

That Hammy is retro-future cool lookin' though!

It's a banger of a watch. I don't daily it only because I don't daily any watch. High rotation etc. But there's no reason why you couldn't daily it. I also have thin wrists and it's very comfortable.

And why not? I have two 😎

You guys are making me want one 🤦‍♂️

I would think that two handed operation would be a dreadful pain. There's a reason why LED completely disappeared in favor of LCD (and yes, I'm old enough to remember the transition).

I believe this is not necessary on the reissue any longer.

It really wears like a smaller watch as the band is narrow as is the height (not thickness). I have a 6.25” wrist.

Correct, the Hamilton is "always on", though the push of the button activates the OLED display. When not fully illuminated it takes just a little reflection to clearly see the time. In really low light you do have to activate it.

By the way, you are making me ask why I'm not using it as my daily wear! (Probably because there are too many cool GS's and others to stare at as well every day!).

·

I wore a different LED watch as a daily for many years in the late 2000s and it felt very natural to do so. So an LED watch that doesn't even need two handed operation should be even better.

How do you like the PRX Digital and Autodromo Group C ? Are they good as daily wears ?

I’m wearing the group C right now! I really like it, but it’s a bit too funky for daily wear in my opinion. I have the robins egg blue version, and it really pops. So I wear it as a fun weekend watch, but not usually daily. The PRX digital, on the other hand, is a great daily watch for casual or professional settings. I have a nice automatic in my collection, but find myself wearing the Tissot almost every day.

That blue Group C is really an eyecatcher. I sort of like it for its unique design and well built case with good materials used. But then the hefty price and disappointing water resistance make it so hard to actually pull the trigger. I mean it's more expensive than some really nice automatic watches I bought. So I don't really know what to think about it.
