Solar movement tips

Im pretty new into this solar movement. I heard it is great, but some of you said it is a waste of money.

So here is my Seiko SNE141P1 for my graduation gift. I got it for US$153,89 from a local watch store. Did i make a good purchase for that price? How good is Seiko's solar movements compared with Citizen's eco-drive and Casio's tough solar? And do you guys have any tips on taking care of solar watches?

Maybe any tips for taking care a titanium watch too? Cheers.

Titanium is light, but it's relatively soft.

Give the watch a bit of sun to keep it powered.

I love my solar movements, charge them up every few months, rarely have to set the date/time, perfect for get up and go.

I haven't done any proper research into comparing eco drive vs tough solar vs seiko's version. I have the solar sumo gmt sfk001 and a solar mini tuna sut405. The gmt is typically accurate to the second over the course of a week and the tuna is around + or - 2 seconds for me.

I got both of them as climbing/hiking/camping/beat around watches and they've taken a few hard knocks on rock, plastic climbing holds, and drops without issue.

If you like it, wear it. Its never a waste of money if you enjoy it.

Think pricewise you made a good deal! Nice looking watch and now you're stuck - the watch has a story for you. If you like it, wear it!

Thanks alot for your tips and infos on that! I appreciate it 🙏

I have one of those which is solar. She need no attention at all. Even if she stay inside, she charge up on the ambient light. A full charge will last months.

Quite impressive when you think about it.

Not counting resale value, I would rather have this watch than a Rolex Daytona. Better looking, and the solar movement is perfect for this watch.

Hello to Samuel. I would say you got a 'pretty good' deal on the price. I bought my Seiko SNE529 solar watch for $99.95. But your watch is also titanium, is on a bracelet, and looks absolutely great.

I have two Seiko solars (the other is the SUP873P1) and one Casio Tough Solar. I've had them all for a few years now. They are all completely reliable, accurate, and trouble free. I keep my solars on a pillow in a box that faces a window that's about six feet away. They're always charged up and ready to go.

And thank you for showing your watch. Man that is sharp. This is the first time I've seen that model. I really like Seiko and think I'm up to speed, and then I see one I never knew existed. Again, thanks.
