I collect other things as well (prop replicas, vinyl records, those little Funko Pops). I never really set out to be a "collector" of any of those things, it just sort of happened. With watches, it started with an Orient Ray II, and quickly snowballed from there.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
When I was maybe 12, my grandparents got me a Casio Wave Ceptor. I wore it pretty much everywhere, until it broke! Water damage ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
No, but I always love to hear one!!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Don't let the strap be a dealbreaker (buy dials).
95% of the time, when someone compliments your watch, they donโt know or care what it is; they just think itโs a cool accessory! So buy dials that youโre drawn to, and donโt be afraid to swap out an ugly or uncomfortable strap!!
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
The Mido TV Big Date, and Maen Manhattan 37 have really caught my eye in the last couple of months. Iโm also always eager to see what stuff Lorier is putting outโฆ
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
A birthyear Moonwatch. 1996 was the last year Omega did tritium dials, and I *really* love the vintage vibe that brings to a watch. Plus, birthyear...c'mon.
