Snagged the new Kurono GMT (true GMT) a few min ago. Anxiety attack averted!

Anybody else grab one during the sales window? Thought this looked gorgeous (and I guess the GPHG judges thought so as well since it is an official nomination). As of now it looks like the window is still open . . . thought it would be closed within minutes like some previous models (maybe b/c it's categorized as a pre-order?). I've been looking for a smaller GMT for a while and this fit the bill. I WAS thinking about the Lorca a while back, but didn't want to pull the trigger on such a new company etc. . . . my wallet is sad that this came along but my heart is full haha.

UPDATE: Watch is now sold out (took about 40min . . . def an improvement over being sold out under 3 or 4 min like what happened with my Midnight model). Does look like there was some kind of technical glitch on some platforms that allowed for a longer window this time. Congrats to all who got one.

It's the fairly accessible (mostly under 3k) side-project of watchmaker Hajime Asaoka (he's featured in the wonderful book Watchmakers: Masters of the Art of Horology) . . .his other watches are VERY hard to get since he's mainly the one making the bespoke watches by hand and are 25k up (and that's being conservative since one model went up at auction for nearly a million). Difference here is that the general design language of Asaoka (art deco inspired) is preserved, but he's using off the shelf Miyota movements for the most part instead of his handmade/in-house movements etc. Typically the Kurono roll outs are limited and most sales are purely online with the occassional model only available for order at their Tokyo showroom.

That’s a dope story. I went on the website and seen the GMT is sold out and there won’t be anymore which I like because it’s not mass produced. I did do the email thing so I can stay up to date on what’s coming out. Congratulations again that’s a awesome Looking watch you have.

This is exactly it. A GMT can be nice but I’m fine with doing simple math in my head haha . . . But this just screamed “classy” and versatile . . . And perhaps more importantly: not needlessly bulky for my slender wrists.
