Omega Speedy Japan editions . . . What say you?

Japan Racing 3570.40 (early 2000s) vs. Mark 40 Japan 3513.33 (late 90s) . . . prices for these are pretty damn different (and the Racing is def rising in price . . . both are of course since they are watches and people like us exist haha), but just going on vibes alone for the vote. The Japan Racing is a Moonwatch variant 42mm/ Caliber 1863 Hesalite/ while the Mark 40 is an automatic 1152 (Base ETA 7750) . . . and obviously quite different stylistically. Both aren't terribly common (but are still somewhat attainable unlike the Snoopies etc.) + have a little spice/pizzazz beyond the typical speedy look.

Maybe I'll just tell my wife it was a two for one special haha. Sigh, of course I should be responsible . . . Looks like Racing is in the lead by leaps and bounds which makes sense for a lot of reasons. But that Mark 40 is so insane . . . like it's having an identity crisis but with style, and I love that.

I know the racing is “better” by speedy purist standards but the mark 40 is actually legible. It gets my vote because I can read it at a glance.

I also kind of dig it b/c the numerals remind me of WWI watches that a lot of American (and European) companies produced for soldiers. Love the more modern pop of the red with that vintage throw back. And guilloche on a speedy? It's also several thousand dollars cheaper haha . . .I'll prob end up getting both eventually, but it's easier to swallow the price tag of the Mark 40 for a birthday gift to myself vs. a big milestone for the other. But we'll see . . .

I love my speedy triple date 3523.80. It’s another of the 90’s oddball 39mm automatics. Mine has the 7751 and it’s still running strong. Not as accurate as my SM 300 but it was never designed to be.
