£30 Invicta for work!

I'm a videographer by trade, and although I usually wear G-Shocks on shoots, I wanted to buy a watch that was more formal (than a G-Shock) for corporate-style events - but not a watch from my collection as it's more than likely going to get beaten up. I wanted a watch that was:

  • Cheap to buy
  • 40mm case size, max, as I have small wrists
  • Can take a bit of a battering with a rugged build
  • Looked good with almost any outfit
  • Wasn't TOO formal so I could wear it with a t-shirt if need be
  • Was quartz not automatic, due to potential shocks and knocks during filming
  • If possible, 20mm lugs for maximum strap flexibility, so I can match it to my outfit, shoes, belt in a formal setting
  • If possible, a chrono or rotating bezel for quick timing tasks
  • If possible, decent water resistance - not for swimming - but for if I ever get caught in the rain

Surprise, surprise, my search led me to the Invicta Pro Diver 9307. 40mm, 20mm lugs, swiss quartz movement, 200m water resistance (although no screw down crown). Cost me just £30 second hand, but in brand new condition, with zero signs of wear. Very happy with it. I have a solid week of filming coming up, so I'm going to put it to the test. I don't really like the term "beater", but that's essentially what it is going to be. So there we go, I now have an Invicta in my collection!

For so little, you really cannot complain. May it take many beatings for you.

I just got to handle this watch this week. I was shocked at the quality of materials for $30. It was sturdy, comfortable, and sub-$100 :O
