Saving for one watch for next year
Hey crunchers, I'm thinking about saving for one nicer watch next year, instead of buying a bunch of cheaper watches. The watch that I'm thinking of getting is the Hamilton Khaki Field mechanical. I know, for a lot of more seasoned or affluent crunchers, the HKF is an affordable entry piece, not a quote unquote nice watch. But for me, that's a big purchase.
That all being said, is the HKF worth my money, or are there better, higher quality US military inspired field watches that if be better off getting?

I am a big fan of field watches. I would like to add a Hamilton to my collection. I also agree the HKF is said to be affordable but it would be a big purchase for me too. I could have bought one this year but I can't stay off of eBay buying cheap used Casio's and Seiko's.
I looked at it for a long time, and considered buying it. In my opinion, I think it’s worth.
I lusted after it for two years, finally bought it a month ago, and it hasn’t left my wrist, fantastic watch, great finishing, great accuracy, and I got it for less than retail, no regrets whatsoever
Hamilton's are very tough, but the lack of AR coating can be rather frustrating.
Do it, it'll save you money in the long run as once you have it you won't be as tempted by "lesser" watches as they'll be stealing wrist time from your pride and joy 😉👍

I have the KF mechanical 42, and I love it. Simple, elegant. I'd recommend to anyone.
As someone who is in the same shoes, I say it's worth it.
Like others have said, getting a single nicer watch will likely save you money in the marathon that is watch enthusiasm.
A few years ago, I wandered by a watch shop that was going to be shuttered due to extensive renos planned by the company that owned the commercial mall, walked in and negotiated a deal on an Hamilton Kahki for my older daughter who was a few years from entering university. She is now an executive with a financial institution earning a decent income, recently I rehabbed my freak broken ankle at her condo while she moved back to her childhood home for a few months. I noticed the humble Hamilton on her dresser next to a framed photo of she and me when she was a 5 year old. Over the years we have gifted her all sorts of stuff but that Hamilton watch will be around for a very long time. Buy the watch, make some memories with it!

If your after the military tool style then go with the mechanical
I would however recommend the auto as its a bit more versatile? You can throw it on a nato and it still has the awesome tool look but you can but it on leather and it looks classy
