Watching Spotting: It makes you realize how niche we are.

Since I developed this disease, Iv been always looking at wrists for what people have on. 99% of the time it’s nothing or Apple Watches. That 1% though Iv seen some interesting stuff. I kid you not in the last 3 years Iv only seen a Pepsi GMT at a restaurant , 4 subs by the water , Speedy, two tone blue and gold sub on the golf course, green dial yellow gold datejust at JFK airport. Women’s datejust in public, Daniel Wellington/ other fashion watches in public .

It really is a smaller community than we realize. What have you seen out and about? Anything crazy?

A Vacheron in line, waiting for a moonswatch, a Speedmaster on the car salesman at an Infinity dealership. And a Hydroconquest on one of my coworkers (his kids gifted it to him).

Rolex President at a car show last weekend. Older guy, the owner of a beautiful Old Cutlass convertible. Obviously classy dude.

·

One of my bosses has a JLC moonphase and the other boss who I don’t like wears a Panerai. I will not be buying a Panerai ever.

Saw my third Rolex since April over the weekend. Rolex GMT Master, Blue/Black didn't get reference. Dude said he also had recently gotten a Kermit. Both used. Based off everything else I noticed about the King Ranch Custom, lifted F250 platinum etc etc tended to think they weren't fakes.

Also have seen a rose gold Datejust and an Explorer.

Rarest to date was a Reverso Duo face. Very cool, very nice, and the gentleman rocking it was DEF an enthusiast.....noticed my Helm and mentioned he'd been waiting forever for a restock on the original Khuraburi with the 10'o'clock crown.

I'll usually acknowledge the watch and then move on. But I like to talk to ppl lol.

But that's typical for West TX/oilfield. See booms, see busts.

Tend to see quite a bit more niche/micro/tool divers on my fellow Tech's wrists and mil-types in general more and more these days. I'm guessing due to social media.

Everything from Sangin, Rolex, Pelagos, Seiko, Citizen, Vaer down to the ubiquitous G Shocks, Ironman, and Casio's and the Smartwatch.

Saw a IWC Portugieser in the wild today.

I do work in an industry where I do see some very expensive, very rare watches. Not everyone wearing them is into watches. I commented on a GS recently and she looked confused then said it was a gift

Had a patient wear his Sky King in just to show me. Super nice. A few patients who are pilots, wearing Breitling of course. More Hamiltons than you might think. Too many Apple watches to count. My coworkers don't wear anything except smartwatches. One of my colleagues carries an $8000 Hermes bag. She could, at least, have the good taste to wear Cartier.
