Tudor BBB

Another work watch.

I’m a plumber by trade, not that I do any physical work these days, so I was always going to be attracted to bronze watches. The copperish smell invokes good & bad memories from earlier in my career, a career which has provided me the opportunity to have my modest collection.

Alas the BBB isn’t a great watch in my opinion. It doesn’t patinate as interestingly as say a Panerai Bronzo & doesn’t sit that well on my wrist. The lime is terrible & it uses an awkward lug width making aftermarket straps difficult to come by.

I’m curious to see if a display caseback will fit, now that Tudor has one available, but given the Bronze is a slightly larger case than the rest of the range I’m guessing it won’t.

The positives. It’s very ledgable, even from the briefest of glances at the most acute angles. It’s very scratch resistant! It’s harder than any of my Ti watches. It’s easy to polish by just leaving in a dilution of denture cleaning tablets & a quick wipe with a Cape Cod cloth.

Would I recommend a BBB? They’re definitely becoming more recognisable & less flashy material does mean you stand out more from the regular BB fan boy who polishes the smudges from his glass every hour, (jokes). I think the Bronze BB’s will hold more of their value compared to the steel variants but let’s be honest, you’re never going to make money in the resale.

Anyway, your post reminds me of that BB925, for a while, it was the BB for many, and the buzz was insane, now I don't hear anything about it anymore. What happened to it anyway?

I think that was a step too far. It also wasn’t properly 925, more of a weird super alloy with none advantages as it was still too soft.

Sure, bronze is good, but PEX is cheaper.

Nice watch, I’m sure regardless of metal they’ll retain enough value as they age….
