Speedy Homage...kind of?

I dug this one out from the back of my desk drawer, it is all pale and pasty having not seen sunlight for years. Why have I done this? In my very early twenties I was obsessed with the Speedy Moonwatch (because 'dude it was worn on the Moon'). Not being able to afford one (or having any real watch knowledge) I bought what I thought at the time was a great homage to it within my price range. It's still in great nick to be fair but needs a new battery. My question then...was my past self mad or was this an acceptable budget conscious homage to the classic Speedy moon watch for (at the time) a non-watch guy? If not what would you recommend for sub-£100 nowadays...

Maybe something from Dan Henry or if you found a deal on the Bulova Lunar Pilot. Having said I had 2 watches throughout my 20s and 30s and G-Shock and a Fossil. Fossil served me well during those years.

Good shout, the Bulova is lovely but you are right I'd need to find a decent second hand deal.

You can find a good deal on the Lunar Pilot every now and then. I got mine for less than $300 new on Jomashop. I just checked Ebay and there are a couple of black options for just over $250.

Having said that, I see nothing wring with the Fossil pictured above; it is a nice, affordable homage of the Speedmaster.

It is not a Moon watch, but the DW5600 is an affordable option for a space watch, as it has been to the ISS.

The Bulova seems to be the recommendation so far, eBay alert duly set!

The Fossil was very grateful to hear that, maybe a weekend with a fresh battery will bring back the love...at least until the Bulova arrives 😂

The 5600 is definitely one for my burgeoning Casio collection, it's the only G-Shock that suits my eye as well. Hopefully coming to a post near you soon!
