๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ‘‘ Value MVP- Round of 16C

Here's one for those among us who love a watch that delivers outstanding value for money- who doesn't? This is a tournament in which we vote to determine the watch that WatchCrunch deems to be the ultimate value proposition! Today, we have the Seagull 1963 Chronograph vs the Brew Metric.

The Seagull can be had for around $250-400. There are usually options for either acrylic or sapphire. It also comes with genuine military heritage, having been used by the Chinese air force. But the real value proposition of this watch is the beautiful in-house ST19 mechanical chronograph movement. The Seagull is often touted as the best value mechanical chronograph available today.

The Brew comes in at around $450. You get a sapphire crystal, 5 ATM of water resistance, and Brew's trademark mecha-quartz chronograph movement - the accuracy of quartz with the sweeping seconds hand of a mechanical watch. You also get Brew's amazing retro design in a beautiful square-ish case. This is the third duel in the Round of 16. Vote away!

I though the Brew used Seikos VK-68 mechaquartz.

To me this isn't a fair comparison, as the Brew utilises a mecha-quartz, vs the Seagull's column-wheel chronograph movement. I would pick the seagull based on its movement.

However if all specs were equal, and both were mechanical (or quartz) I would choose the Brew, as I do like it's design.

It does. When I said "trademark", I meant that Brew is well-known for using these movements. The wording I used is a bit confusing though.

I see your point. I think both watches offer a different value proposition at different price points. The question is which watch offers more value at its price? My pick goes to the Seagull for sure, but what we define as 'value' is really subjective, so for some, the Brew might be a better package for the price.
