Are textured dials overdone?

Just speaking for myself, I really like this design.

No. Variety is the spice of life.

Much as I love vintage watches, there's no way I'd like to go back to the 50s or 60s watch-wise (or any other way, for that matter).

99% of the watches sold were cream/champagne dial, gold plated case and leather strap.

Maybe the best thing about watches are textured dials for me

It’s refreshing in the sea of black or blue sunburst, gloss, or matte dials. My only hard limit: fume dials. I detest them to no end, and unfortunately, fume dials have become a craze like GMTs as of late. Fortunately I think the trend is dying down a little

·

I wouldn’t want it on all my watches, but I definitely appreciate it on the watches I’ve got with it.

It's like the indices on early skin divers from Douglas/Wolbrook up to Glashütte Original or the same cursive "Automatic" text on Zodiac Olympos, several Longines models and Zeppelin. Besides, there are only so many things you can do with a dial surface (except if you're Grand Seiko).

·

Yes, but the asphalt or whatever it is called is among the most forgivable. I side with Gory Joodman (The Time Yeller) in opposition against the sphincter pattern of textured dials.

I blame Grand Seiko, and I hate their corny nature crap haphazard textures. Moreso, I blame the people that like them.

Not on that big eye. I love that watch.

Not on that big eye. I love that watch.

Agreed. Definitely it had a textured dial before the trend began.

I don’t think so. I love that there are so many options and playfulness with the dials!

Love textured, colored, or different materials used on dials.

Enjoy your watch!

Not really a fan of textured dials unless it aids legibility.
