Defective Seiko SNJ025 Arnie: Update #1
So, I made a post last week about my defective Seiko Arnie. Since I realized that mine is defective, I've called Seiko's Repair department, and done more research.
Seiko said to send the watch in, as they are aware of the problem. Apparently, there is an issue where the solar cell interfaces with the battery incorrectly, and either shuts the watch off, or in my case, factory resets the watch.

As my first entry into the Seiko gang, this is extremely disappointing. Alas, it is what it is. I'll be doing periodic updates as I get the watch back from warranty work.

Thanks Jeff. It's really a shame, as I was so interested in getting to wear the Arnie. I'll be documenting the process as I send the watch to Seiko, and (eventually) get it back.
Great video , I'll wait until you send yours in and see what they say, I have the warranty card but unfortunately this was a gift so I don't have a receipt or any other information that they want for me to send it in under warranty until then I guess I'll just use my solar watch at night.

Hi just chiming in here, my Seiko SNJ025 also resets in the sun (purchased new in December 2023 ) and apparently all Seiko SNJ025 /27 models made in 2023 have this issue. Here is a reddit feed on a long line of owners with same problem. Response from Seiko has been either silence, non responsive, or send back the watch still not repaired. Not impressed and will not purchase Seiko again.

I appreciate that you're along for the ride. I don't want to sound altruistic, but I'm glad that this happened to me, rather than someone else. With the website that I write for, I can document, and have that documentation seen for this whole Seiko process. I hope I can get back to wearing it again soon too.

Hey CJ! Thanks for commenting! I found that thread last week too, link it in the video that I made documenting my SNJ025 issues. It's really a damn shame.
I'm with you too. This was my first Seiko, and it'll be my last one too.
Dont worry, Seiko might have some QC problems but Seiko customer support is pretty good.
