Are watch quality increasing with the quality?

After reading an interesting post from @finiteprowls about his CW got me questioning if watches are actually getting better with the price. Now don't get me wrong I know inflation is a thing but some watches have increased 25 to 50 percent in price. Paired up with how some watch brands are known for qc problems like Seiko and the bezel alignment. I just wonder have watches quality gone up with price or not?

I say no.

Some brand have gone up with quality and some not so much. I have various watch brands varying in price and I can honestly say you don’t always get what you pay for.

So far I’ve not bought a bad one and I’m more than happy with my #christopherward as iam with my #tudor. But I do think as you spend more than £4-5k it becomes more about what they think people will pay rather than what the watch is worth.

For the most part it’s just been price increases with no changes to that particular model. New models will come out with slight improvements, but most don’t warrant the hefty price increase that came with it.

Watch brands are in the business of selling watches, not quality. If they can sell more watches with the same or less quality then they will do it in a blink.

Yes, massive increase in quality since I got into watches many years ago. Although I've got older & my disposable income has increased so I don't tend to look at the really cheap stuff.

Depends. I think in the very vicious microbrand segment, you need to get better with price or be displaced. Established luxury watches? Yeah no, I severely doubt it.

The Rolex replicas have certainly improved in quality.
