$26 for an automatic? Chinese watch again...and decent!

TLDR: Surprisingly nice, accuracy within spec, good value daily watch, ditch the box it came in if gifting (casual gifting, white elephant, etc.).

DETAILS: The box this watch came in will "embarrass" your gesture if gifting! The watch, however, will not, as it is a beautiful watch for the price and would make a nice casual gift.

I mean really, $26 for this watch? It's an automatic winder with a Hardlex crystal (which I thought was a Seiko proprietary material, so I don't know if the description is accurate, but it's beautiful) and nice finishes as well! The only real flaws I found with the finishes on this watch (using a jeweler's loupe) were on the date numbers - the printing was not good - but at normal viewing levels you don't see it AT ALL. I love the blue metallic hands against the white dial...when the light catches it right...so pretty.  Some details on the dial seem to be homages to an IWC I've seen...the yellow triangle at 12 and "Mark XV" on the dial...I don't recall which one.

The specs say that it's a Japanese automatic movement, and again not sure the description is accurate, but out of the box it's only running +20 seconds per day, which is in spec for much more expensive movements (with great amplitude and beat error numbers too). You can most likely adjust that down further if you possess the tools and knowledge, but if you don't, its timekeeping ability out of the box will be accurate enough for daily activities. How long will it last? Who cares? It's $26!

I added an inexpensive yellow and black NATO strap and voila, instantly better yet.  This watch really appeals to my bang-for-the-buck initiative.

Search on Amazon for this to find it:  "MASTOP Fashion Men's Sport Day Date Black Leather Automatic Self Winding Watch"

Conflict of interest:  None.  I purchased it and don't work for Amazon.

I have the divy WINNER cheapo and it was surprisingly good. Except that the stated water resistance was a total lie, and I believe the movement was actually hydrophilic as the thing got internal condensation despite no known exposure to water. So really, as much as I scoff at the water resistance ninnies, keep this thing away from any moisture.

I assume the lume is dim and fleeting too, not that I really care.

Yeah, I'm a noob here.  Clearly.

No lume at all, but if there was, I'm sure you'd be spot on at this price.

Hydrophilic nature noted!  lol  Thanks for the heads up!  🍻
