Nomos Ludwig?

Am I reading this correctly, the Ludwig 38 is 37.5mm and the Ludwig is 38mm? Is there really a difference between the two besides one dial being white and the other silver? Both run the Alpha.

Looking at potential purchases on my trip to Munich this summer and it must be a German watch.

Cheers! 🍻

Sure is handsome.

The Romans look much more suited to the design that their normal Arabics imho. 😍👍🏻

Oh man I don't think you can go wrong with either one

I’ve got the 38 enamel and really like it (except the dial color is a little TOO white sometimes). The 6.8mm thickness gives it a unique effortless feel I want sometimes. I also love the feel of the cordovan strap it comes with.

I added the bracelet from the Nomos website because it was so inexpensive. It’s worth about what they charge—pretty flimsy, but with a thin watch it works okay. I also added a suede strap from their website, which was also reasonably priced.

Those are my own comments as a happy owner.

I just had look at the Nomos website (und ich habe auch die deutsche Webseite nachgeschaut). The plain old "Ludwig" is 36mm, the "Ludwig 38" is 37.5mm (so much for obsessive German punctilious precision?).

The Euro price is cheaper too, so I'm not sure what you were looking at.

If I were to get another Nomos, it would be a Ludwig, though the size and feature combination isn't quite right. I wish they had a 36mm with date (like they do for the Tangente). The coolest one is the one with the Roman numeral date, but at 41mm it's way too big. I have a 37mm Metro Gangreserve with wears like at least a 40mm. And I don't know that I need another Nomos.

Just Got NOMOS Ludwig 38

Glashütte Ludwig 38 Enamel from West the time through 24chrono 12847 dkk= 1725 euro. I Think the enemal White gives the classic look a modern twist.

Thanks for the clarification, I guess the German Wempe site needs a little work.

I think the 38 will fit me well, with my 17.1cm wrist. I will wear anything from 34 up to 47mm, but 38 to 42mm is the sweet spot. Looking forward to seeing what's available in person!

I'm sure the 38mm will work for you. Like I said, I wear a 37mm on my 16.5cm wrist. But also like I said, Nomos wears visually really big, especial one that's so plain and stark; I wish the 37mm were a little smaller. And small, discrete, and elegant fits this sort of watch, so I think the 36mm is worth considering. Try them on if at all possible. Nomos doesn't wear like other watches.

Thank you for the advice, I will try both at the store. 👍

One Ludwig has a remnant, cut-off painted roman numeral at 6 o'clock, the other has only empty space there. This will be more evident when you see it on your wrist. Once you know the difference, you cannot unsee it.

Good catch. I did not notice that, but I don't think that bothers me. I guess we'll see on wrist.😉

Hi, the Ludwig is 35mm and the Ludwig 38 is 37.5 mm, according to the official Nomos website. My personal recommendation would be the Nomos Ludwig 38 enamel. The enamel dial in contrast to the heat blued hands is just beautiful and the proportions are spot on😉

I own two Tangente, one is the white 35mm manual, the other the 35mm Blaugold auto (Neomatik). Both a super comfortable, and very elegant - with that slightly brutalist Germanic twist!

I wouldnt look som much into the diameter, but instead look into the lug to lug lenght. This for any brand, not only Nomos. I wear my 35mm on my 16.5cm wrist, and its a perfect fit. Its so light weight that you dont notice it, and it looks so Germanic and cool. The quality is superb, and so is the precision.

The straps are on the same high level as watch itself, which is especially important with a smaller watch, where you really notice the strap. They have a really good strap selector on the Nomos website, ensuring a perfect fit.

I wear the white one the most, mainly because I prefer manuals. The auto is great for sure, and no worries about the relatively low power reseve. You can hold it "topped up" with minimal movement... even my very physically inactive life is enough...

I can highly recommend Nomos. These two wont be my last.

Thank you, I will definitely pay attention to the lug-to-lug and try the different sizes.

The Neomatik, is that the in-house calibre that has the impressive 94.2% efficiency?

Yes, it is indeed. Its a great movement, the only "downside" I personally find, is that when vinding it, it feels a bit "rough" (cant explain it more precisely, Im afraid). But you only have to app 5 turns on the crown, and its good to go. It also just enough to shake it for a few seconds, and its going.

I know what you mean about the wind roughness, I have a few watches like that. It feels like something's wrong even though there isn't.
