@P4RZIV4L2045 I will say with all recommendations to not just take case diameter into consideration. A Nomos Tangente 38 wears very for example. As does the 38mm Longines watches. I’m not knocking those watches - they are very beautiful watches but case shape and lug to lug also play an important part
i have been really enjoying my Islander ISL-85 ($349). Trying it on a hirsch rubber strap to make it even more practical and think I may have found my new favorite for working at my desk all day.
I would say that a Seiko 5 is perfect for every day and they are really accessible for everyone! But if you want something diffe I suggest you a beautiful microbrand, Relio Watches with their Solstice. Really well done 😁
If you’re looking for that vintagey diver look, I loved my Lorier Neptune. Really great finishing, incredible bracelet and beautiful distortions on the acrylic crystal.
You can pick them up pretty cheap second hand now.
Sinn 556 range (38'5mm). Crazy quality for the money. It's an icon for a reason 😉 I know it's around 1K, not really a budget watch, but it's totally worth it.
As a "budget" option, I would say the Seiko 5 "Dress-KX" it's a very solid watch, with short lug to lug distance and plenty of color options to choose from.
Seagull 1963. 38mm and mine cost me c£200 (though I've put a better quality nato on since). Good size for a variety of wrists. Manual wind, column wheel chronograph. Absolutely crazy VFM. And a military stunner.
Building off of a watch recommended by @mtndvr, the house brand of Long Island Watch, Islander, offers a number of sub-40mm options for a daily watch, including many variants of the #ISL-85. Here is my own #ISL-38.
A few other options include the 39mm Flieger-style pilot watches, the 39mm open-heart dress watches, and the 39mm field watches.
#ISL-107
#ISL-98
#ISL-43
There are variants on all of these, and they are priced at $199, except for the #ISL-38, which is $349 and has a Miyota 9015 movement.
Personally I'd look at seikos, alot of nice watches that fit smaller wrists really well compared to Swiss watches. Seiko just have a knack of making watches fit small wrists really well.

For me, it's Seiko SNKL41. A bit less than 38 mm tho...

I think all of old seiko 5 series

I'm picking the SARB series and the Hamilton Khaki. Great sizing, relatively affordable, and quality is awesome for the price.
The hamilton Khaki field auto 38mm is your watch. It's strong, precise, works for every day use. I have one and I can't recommend it enough.

49 mm lug to lug makes it wear much larger though.
What's your budget? A pre-owned nomos club campus is a good choice.
Cheaper you can go with a stowa particio.
More sporty, you can try for one if those seiko solar chronos
Otherwise, lots of people suggesting islanders is a solid option
Seiko SNK809 (automatic) or Citizen BM8180 (solar quartz)?
I would say a vintage Seiko 5 if you can find one I have one myself it's 38mm and I love it.I wear it all the time.
Black bay 36 would be my vote - imo the perfect daily wearer.
A Seiko SNXS79
or an SNKL41...
