2 Chinese GMT Movements

A couple of fellow WatchCrunchers have expressed interest in the Chinese GMT movements I’ve shown on WRUW. Before I get into this remember I’m not a specialist, just an enthusiast. The information I’ve collected is from the web.

I have GMTs in my collection, a Pagani Design PD-1682 Rolex Explorer II clone and a Parnis PA6073 Type B Flieger. I don’t think the Parnis is a clone of anything, just a generic Flieger with small seconds and the GMT complication. Both of these watches were purchased from Ali Express for < $120.00 each. They are both automatic with manual winding and hacking. Neither has a screw down crown. The PD-1682 is 42mm in diameter and the Parnis is 44mm in diameter. My PD-1682 is running at +6s/day. It was last regulated in August 2022. The PA6073 is running at +16 s/day and has not been touched. It was checked in March 2022. I intend to open it up and make some tweaks soon.

The PD has a Mingzhu DG5833 movement. Apparently, this movement isn’t a direct copy of Swiss or Japanese GMT movement. It appears to be an evolution of a Dixmont-Guangzhou (DG) movement without a well known history. Caliber-Corner states that the framework is based on the Miyota *8xxx series. Photos included.

The Parnis has a Seagull ST2557 movement. If I understand correctly, the Seagull ST25xx series started out life as an ETA2892-A2. There are many variations of the ST25xx with various jewel counts and different complications. This movement is used in many watches including Seagull watches. I included a few photos included.

Thank you for the post! I have been working my way through the Chinese watch hashtags, and I have got to say that this Pagani Design PD-1682, is just astounding. Hope to pick one up now.

I have a Phylida GMT with the 5833 movement. I've had it a couple years with no problems and it is accurate. So far. YMMV
