“Luxury” NATO straps . . . wtf

Omega is charging $320 for a NATO strap.

$320. For a NATO strap.

I suppose there is something to the saying “a fool and his money are soon parted.”

Oh yes without a doubt. And this doesn’t spoil my enthusiasm for Omega. Just . . . wow.

·

Seriously though. Are they handmade by Bond himself? Titanium buckles? Organic corn plastic biodegradable webbing? Spider silk stitching?

Seriously. It’s not like every strap comes with a complimentary kiss from Rosamund Pike.*

*If that were the case, I’d be filing for bankruptcy within the month.

I suspect the target customer is the sort that drops $300 on a meal at a restaurant without thinking.

One of the things I find interesting about the watch world, is that people seem to forget that luxury products aren't intended for "normal" people.

"Normal" Omega Natos are $160.  Still high, but at least it's better quality material and all the metal is decently finished.  However, double the price just because it's the "Bond" colorway????

·

I’ve tried an omega nato and they are great but bark and jack straps are my favorite and only 20ish dollars!

·

Take the Omega and 007 logos off and it's worth about 50p

·

"Well if i had thousands to spend on a watch id have 320$ to spend on a nato as well" I guess that the idea behind it

No I fully understand that, but it still baffles me.

Exactly. I’ve yet to find a strap that’s better than the ones I pay $10 for at Crown & Buckle.

The $32 Chevron from Crown & Buckle is pretty awesome.

I haven’t tried the Chevron yet, but they look great and seem like they’re probably really comfortable. I do have one of their Supreme straps, which I honestly didn’t like all that much to begin with, but as it’s broken in I like it more and more.

I bought a Speedmaster Professional that came with a "free" Omega NATO and after handling it, I threw it on eBay right away.

It was a good strap, but certainly not worth keeping when the money someone paid for it can buy several good NATO straps.
