Grail Watch

Ok so let’s say you want your grail watch though it is slightly out of reach and may have to part with a few of your pieces. Do you

A. Go for it and Sell! Sell! Sell! In order to obtain said Watch and have it be your GADA for a few months.

B. Wait

B. Wait as long as it’s still going to be available. Otherwise sell or else you’re going to regret missing out.

I don't plan to sell any of my watches so my only option is to wait and save.

·

A. I have too many I don't wear 😅

I’ve always been an A person but I’ve sold and rebought so many watches it’s got beyond I have a limited budget so I have to sell to buy new anyway with the occasional top up to experience different watches

I’ve sold a speedy pro to part pay for a jlc reverso duo face that I thought was my grail only to find as much as I loved to wear and look at that reverso I missed my speedy so I sold that to get my speedy back. I sold my lovely omega seamaster to fund another grail a fully tegamented sinn u50 SDR but while I don’t regret buying the sinn it’s everything I wanted and it’s a keeper boy do I miss that seamaster and wish I’d found the money elsewhere

So over time and bitter experience I’ve evolved into a B

I’ve made a list and everything 😂

C. Oogle it online.

I sometimes feel researching and pining for watches are just as fun as wearing them. Maybe one day I will buy that JLC. Maybe not. Looking at photos and daydreaming are more than enough for now. And the next 10 years.

It depends. If it's one out and some cash for one in. I'm cool with it. If you're looting you collection for it save.

I do appreciate that you're only talking about paying for it and not financing it.

That's exactly how you should do it.

The way I approach things:

(To me) is it worth the price?

What are the alternatives and do they hold up to my grail.

For example purposes my grail is the Type XX from Breguet 18k USD.

What are my alternatives?

  1. Hanhart 417es ( This is actually my grail) 2,200 USD

The history and heritage is there. the price is just a fraction of the watch. personally that would more than just scratch my itch it I would be happy.

For the people that love the Speedmaster and the heritage but can't afford it. I know the moonwatch core fans probably cringe but the Bulova Lunar Pilot is Nasa's illegitimate child and the black sheep of the family. Hate it or love it still has the rep and was there too and the cherry on top the Bulova movement is probably more accurate.

So there's always some options to a grail that can satisfied your taste without selling your house or selling your kidneys on the deep web to the FBI.

Wait unless what I’m getting rid of I no longer will wear anyway. It’s so much more worth waiting it out then regretting selling a watch right after the honey moon phase is over. At least that’s what I read it hasn’t happen to me.
