Longines - The ultimate Dad joke

Does anyone else think that Longines' logo is the ultimate Dad joke? I mean "Time Flies" on a dial of a watch. Could not be more cheesy if it was a pizza.

I didn’t even know that their emblem meant that….you learn something new everyday 😂

I doubt it means that. I'm of an opinion that the wings point to their history with aviation.

I guess people in 1867 had the same sense of humour as people today.

Although Tempus Fugit reaches back considerably longer than Longines.

The winged hourglass logo actually predates powered flight by quite a bit. It was introduced in 1867 and registered as a trademark in 1889 making it the oldest unchanged active trademark in the world.

Back then wings were added to many things to make them seem more heavenly and therefore prestigious.

E.g. Winged railway wheel as a symbol of German railways. Aston Martin. Bentley. Goodyear.

Suddenly you stop laughing at this joke when you realize that the crown guards look like wings and the crown is the hour glass on Conquest and HydroConquest models 😮🤓🥹

It comes from their root in aviation, not a dad joke.

Hahahahahaha you do have a point on the #longines logo, now I will never look at it without thinking about the dad joke.
