Going through boxes of stuff, and came across some of my old cassettes, mostly from the '80s and '90s. For some reason, this watch always evokes memories of music, skateboarding, and just being a kid. Not anything to do with the obvious Pogue colorway, but more because Seiko released a similar model called the Beatmaker. When I hear that word, I think of big boomboxes (you know, the kind that take eight D cell batteries?), blasting some not-so-subtle music, trying to do kickflips and catch air off a rickety launch ramp in my friend's driveway. Good times.

I'm a kid of the 70's mostly so I remember 8-tracks and cassettes. Never could ride a skateboard, but was a terror on my bike. LOL. Take care my friend

Love the background shots of cassettes. Music is like magic - a Time Machine to the past. That and your feelings with your (legend of a) watch and your suddenly there. Bring in food and you can travel anywhere in time… at least for me anyway ✌️🙃

Nice way of connecting the dots Lawrence! The 80's and 90's were amazing periods.

I know you have a mix tape with Nightranger, Tears for Fears, Saga, and R.E.M., I just don’t see it here 😂👊🏻😎

·

Keep the Hits coming Lawrence 👌🔥

Oh, man. Thinking about kickflips takes me back to the times my board would try to kill my ankles and shins from failed attempts at whatever trick I could never get. Cool photo. Cool watch!

You've taken #throwbackthursday to a whole new level, Lawrence.

Thanks, James! Same to you! Growing up, we had a '78 Cadillac with an 8-track. I remember we had Willie Nelson and Michael Jackson's Thriller. 😁

Add to that a familiar smell or taste, and you're there. Have a great one, Trevor. 🍻

Yes, they were. Wish I could go back sometimes. Have a good one, Danilo!

This wasn't everything, of course. I couldn't find the Bangles, but the cassette on the bottom left is Van Morrison. 😁 We had a lot of vinyl, as well. The Cars, Foreigner, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, etc...

Thanks, Conrad. I feel your pain. I'm not sure how I never broke a bone, but I did sprain both ankles multiple times. Probably explains why I can walk a straight line and an ankle will just suddenly give out. 😳😂

Thanks, John. I didn't even think to tag that, but it was nice strolling down memory lane for a bit.

Lol, polar opposites! I hated when the track would change in the middle of a song. Arrrgghhh!

Still have a giant box of vinyl. My favorite to look at is ELO , out of the blue!

A wee lad in the 70's, a teen for most of the 80's and this brings back memories of those same jumps, the same boombox and many others.

Cheers!.

My dad was (is) a huge ELO fan, so of course when I hear them it brings back memories. (I just read that the keyboard player died recently.) Dad had a massive record collection, but lost it all during Hurricane Katrina. Luckily, he had everything saved digitally, but it's a shame that they all got ruined.

I still have a lot of records as well, mostly underground, lesser known stuff.

If you didn't risk breaking your neck jumping something with wheels off of an old piece of plywood, did you really have a childhood? 😂

Lol Duran Duran have not thought of them in years. Hungry like the wolf 🐺

I love it. ELO has the most unique sound in all of rock history. Best way to wake up for 2nd grade with your flip-digit clock radio: Turned to Stone.

I did have a flip clock, but it wasn't an alarm. Wish I still had it, they're pretty pricey now. I do still use my Sony Dream Machine cube alarm clock from the 90s.

P. S. It doesn't have a separate knob for the rad-i-o alarm. 😂
