Christmas Watch #2

What do you get when you mix the Omega Alaska Project with the MoonSwatch Mission to Mars, and throw in some good ol', inexpensive Chinese homage watch manufacturing? The PD-1701. I was searching for my first analog chrono for Christmas, and ended up with two (the other being the Bulova Surfboard, see Christmas Watch #1 post). Amazon had these things for $72 around Black Friday, and I caved. I'm sure you can find them even cheaper on AliEx, but I have yet to dip my toes in those waters, and am trying to keep in that way for now.

I mentioned elsewhere that this was a pre-gift to myself. The Bulova was already purchased, and set to be my gift from my wife. I thought it might be rude to turn around and ask for another watch, so I bought it for myself, using Christmas money that I haven't received yet. 😳 It was almost a sure bet that I would at least rake in the $77 (price plus tax) that the PD-1701 demanded. My parents and in-laws always insist on present exchanges, and they usually give me cash, which doesn't hurt my feelings one bit. Even if they opted not to this year, I'd still only be out less than a C-note. It was a chance I was willing to take.

Anyway, I'm impressed by this watch so far. My first Pagani, which I know is just a clomage brand, but this one isn't a 100% copy, so that's a step forward, right? I have no problem with homage/clomage watches; I already have several in my collection. With an SII VK63 movement, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, and stainless construction, I almost feel like I stole it.
