Still trying to reset my Casioak

I moaned on here, a few weeks ago, that I couldn't reset my Casio G-shock, 'Casioak'. Sadly, I am still walking around with it only showing the analogue time. All the settings for the rest of the watch are beyond me. But...I like the yellow strap.

Once upon a time, I was an intelligent person. I fear that aging has changed this and that my skull is now full only of strawberry jelly. Pleasant enough, in its own way.*

Does anyone have a pointer to a Real Idiot's Guide for this topic? I can't cope with: 'Press B three times, press B and C together and cycle through the days of the week, press buttons randomly if it makes you feel better'.

*I have a bone to pick with Fate.

Come here and tell me, girlie,

Do you think my mind is maturing late, Or simply rotted early?      Ogden Nash

Yes, I have thought about seeking out a spotty young man in a shop that sells G-shocks. As long as he doesn't start with: 'Yes, of course. Let me talk you through it...' 🥺

They are a friggin nightmare to set if you're not used to them.

There are 4 buttons on the watch, identified as "A","B","C" and "D".  The "A" button is the top left, "B" is top right", "C" is bottom left, and "D" is bottom right.

Make sure watch is in "TimeKeeping" mode. If not, press the "C" (Mode) button at the 8 oclock position repeatedly until it is.

Once you are sure you are in Timekeeping mode, press and hold the "A" (Adjust) button at the 10 o'clock position until "SET" starts blinking and eventually disappears.  At this point the hands should move out of the way of the display, and the display should show the currently selected city.  Once you are in this mode, the "C" (Mode) button will move between the various items that can be set, and the "B"/"D" buttons on the right hand side can be used to change the currently displayed setting.  Assuming that all you want to is change the hour, you would press "C" repeatedly until the hour was shown in the display. At that point, the "B" button would be used to decrement the value, and the "D" button would be used to increment it. Once done, press the "A" button again to exit the setting mode. The diagram on page E-5 of the manual shows the various displays that you will encounter each time you press the "C" button to move on to the next item.

What could possibly be simpler ? 🙄

FWIW, the latest version of the CasiOak now includes a Bluetooth link that allows the watch to be set from an app. I suspect that should be considerably simpler than using the buttons, but they seem to have a thing for making sure that their interface can be as user hostile as possible, so it may just end up being the same level of frustration, but via Bluetooth.

Best of luck.

Hey Tempus, thank you very much for taking the time to post these instructions for me; I really appreciate it. I will have another go at my Casioak in the morning! 😀

You're very welcome. I know how frustrating it can be. If you can't find your manual, I'd be happy to take a photo of page E-5 from mine if you'd like.
