Another day, another new Grand Seiko limited edition release

This time, they're celebrating the 7th anniversary of the release of Justin Bieber's fourth studio album "Purpose," which produced three U.S. number-one singles: "Love Yourself", "Sorry", and "What Do You Mean?"

Oh, wait...  sorry...  no, these 2 limited edition watches celebrate the 55th anniversary of the 44GS design language, central to Grand Seiko's design philosophy.

So, what the heck was the release of the SBGJ255???  I bought the SBGJ255 SOLELY because I thought it was the only limited edition GS specifically released to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the 44GS design language!  I was going to lord it over everyone!  "Ha!  I have one of the only watches that celebrates the release of a manual of nit-picky rules that a bunch of watchmakers have to follow when they make watches in Japan!  Take that, buddy!"

Now GS has taken away my only joy in life with this release.

I love these, but that price!? More than the white birch and minamo!

I am curious about the new type of steel they are advertising.  I enjoyed the humor in your post!

I just called off my pre-order stating "Sorry for the mixup on what the release's intent was to celebrate. My intent wasn't to make fun of Japan's love for Bieber"

Although, I do love the new dial texture. I may be wrong but I don't recall this pattern being utilized before. They just keep on coming with unique and interesting dials.

Yeah, I wonder what the dials look like in real life.  Their photos are just awful.  Like, on their website, all the watches look dull and lifeless.  The moment you see them in real life, they look like something straight out of Liberace's wardrobe - and I say that in a good way.

The dial texture looks almost exactly the same as the tree ring wood texture on the SLGH007.  But, I'm guessing that since they're going for the starry night look, there must be some super blingy shiny silver streaks in the dial.

This black dial reminds me a little bit of this datejust, personally not a big fan from picture. But as you said, really have to see the real thing to be certain 🙌🏼

Hehehehe!  Great post, laughing over here.

Yeah, I used to love HS when they offered a handful of models and sold very few watches (yeah, I was a bit of a snob).  I had a Hi-Beat at the time that only two master watch makers were allowed to assemble the movement.  Definitely lost a lot of the allure now, although they still release some sexy watches (includinhg those above).
