They have some really cool designs but some collectors will look down on them as fashion watches. I used to browse their catalog before I had money to spare so I look fondly upon the brand.
I can't tell if that's a render or a picture. If you're familiar with what else you can buy at that price point and prefer their stuff, and if reviews seem to be decent with regards to their build quality, then go for it. I don't know anything about them.
The other surfer watch company. You know, the one that gets no respect. For some reason, the perception of Nixon and Vaer is really opposite, despite having similar origins. 🤣
I think Vaer was an odd comparison. To me, Nixon is a fasion watch company until they reach the point wheee they don’t make any fashion watches. Then they’ll probably have to soldier on some more. Vaer on the other hand (as far as I know) never made fashion watches. They started out with quartz field watches, which might seem fashionable to watch nerds, but are less so to regular folks. They never made anything flashy. For better or worse, Nixon has spent years making fashionable watches that aren’t big on the things watch folks value.
Beyond that, I don’t think it’s fair to say Nixon gets a bad rap, at least not here. I’ve seen several posts about there watches and the comments have been positive.

Like some of their designs, for me it would come down to price point.
Since the Protrek line and other similar watches have some of the same features set at a slightly better price point at MSRP.
