Appreciating what you already have

I have to admit I’m getting a bit caught up in all the hype surrounding the new watches that have been released. But I just had to look down to my wrist and my longines hydroconquset 39mm and. I fall in love with it again it was my first Swiss luxury watch it’s not perfect but for the money it’s great value from a brand with lots of history.

I really like the unique and different design style. I know it’s not for everyone taste but I don’t care! I like it and that’s all that matters

This is great advice and I plan on doing just that once I get like 2-5 more watches.

Joking aside, I really do try to do this and have been narrowing my collection down to watches that deliver the most (to me), and trimming the fat otherwise. It feels good to look down at your watches and have strong feelings about all of them.

To be honest I think 4/5 watches is the ideal number but I’ve got 26 🙈🤣but only wear 4 of them often my 3 tudors and my longines i enjoy my entire level watches but as I moved up in a short time i stopped wearing them so they just sit there it’s a waste to be honest but they are sadly not worth the hassle to sell them I’ve given some to my dad

Man that’s beautiful. I do the same… for five minutes and realize how good I have it and all my watches… then immediately go buy another 🙌🏼🫢

·

My ultimate goal is buying something like an Omega or GS for under $3k and aspire to be like those guys in YouTube comments who are like “I’ve owned this watch for 20 years and I never take it off my wrist, I love it.”

Basically, an entry level luxury watch I can feel proud about and know it will stand the test of time would be awesome. But to OP, I know what you mean. My three watches get the job done, but none of them spark that “wow” factor, if that makes sense. I’m happy with them, but none of them really make me excited like I think an Omega or GS would.

This is what I am striving for in my next purchase. But it's tough to narrow it down to a single watch currently.

Yup, I know the exact feeling. I’m caught between like four models right now. Worst part is that they’re all neo-vintage/discontinued, so I can’t just buy one new. What is your shortlist?

I feel seen! It's not just the models either, it's also dial color of the model that is another kicker.

Explorer 36, Aquaterra 38, Neo-vintage? DJ, FOIS is the current short list, I'm sure I have a few more in my mind stored somewhere haha.

I hear you...I took a moment as well to step back and breath. I've been on my exit watch path and I intend to stay.

But all the hype and content is hard to tune out.

Then I look at my wrist and have to remember, I've got good ones. And then I'm ok again

Just really needs some effort to re-center. And glad to know I'm not alone 😊

I am wearing my green dial one today (41mm). They are great watches and so hard to beat for the money.

I love mine and will never sell it. It too was my first‘luxury’ watch. And makes me smile every time I look at it 😄

I too aspire to be one of those guys. “This is my watch, there are many like it but this one is mine”

Looking at the new releases (admittedly I haven't seen them all) I'm underwhelmed. Nothing is making my heart flutter. Then I read your post and I have the aha moment; I'm happy with my collection as it stands. Is this the end? Probably not but it sure feels good not getting caught up in the hype.

Good post Michael.

I feel exactly like you Danilo and @WabiSabiMaster

A sigh of relief and wallet safe.

And a bigger appreciation for what I already have 😊

It’s not a hot chocolate without it haha and I have to say Starbucks has the best cream and you always got to flirt with the girl making them so you get extra cream 😉🤣

To be honest that’s a bit easier not having the money haha I’m saving up for a life changing move so it’s even more difficult when you have the money there but know you still can’t do it haha

Appreciate indeed!
