Ming ....thoughts?

I am enamored by the blue dial ming 17.09.

Thinking of nabbing one. Anyone own a ming? What do you think of them?

Also, anyone have any insight into the value trajectory, will they keep going up?

Thanks!

Watch the YouTube videos on quality issues with Ming. I do not own one.. but I had one in my cart recently for a few minutes .. before I decided my money is well spent elsewhere.

I followed Ming in his photography blogging days, he was pretty much unparalleled in his analysis (well maybe one exception), and from reading and researching his attention to detail has carried through to his watches. Unfortunately for me, I am not keen on the design otherwise I would have been shopping for one. In my opinion they are a sensible buy if you love the design and story, they seem to hold value reasonably.

I just received mine. I was lucky enough to get this during the limited window to order from Ming a little over a year ago. It was a gift to myself - since it would arrive right around my 50th birthday. I fell in love with the pictures, and I think it's more impressive in person. I love how it fits and feels on the wrist and how it will never be mistaken for anything else. It somehow feels classic and modern all at once. I've only just worn it for the first time, so can't speak to longevity but it feels like the highest of quality (for what that's worth). I could sell it on the secondary market for more than twice (maybe 3x) what I paid, but I didn't buy it as investment, rather to enjoy it and commemorate surviving half a century 😀.

Thanks for sharing. Looks great.

I've never seen one in person, but I really like them in photos.

Have the 17.09 and love it.

Have the 17.09 and love it.

I usually wear 40-42mm watches, so wondering how small in reality the 38mm looks on the wrist?

I'm a 7.25" wrist size

Depends on your preference; to me, someone with a 6 1/2” wrist, it is fine, but with a larger wrist I can see it looking small, especially if you regularly wear 42, however, I think it would look good.

FWIW, in the pic above, I have a 7in wrist.  I love the dimensions (generally going for 40 and smaller) - and I don’t think they look too small on my wrist.

If you like them, get one in 2-3 years for 30-40% of what they cost now.

Kinda late on this thread but I also have a 7.25" wrist and absolutely love the 17.09. I have the burgundy dial and the Massena LAB collab black dial. I also like wearing small watches, but I go from 6 digit Rolex sports watches (including a 36mm 124270) to chunky divers, and the Ming is legit among the most comfortable of the bunch. Have not had issues with either, as well. Highly recommend. Here's mine on wrist:
