UPS misplaced my item!

Ok, so quick update, UPS didn’t steal the watch, they just sent it to another designation point at the UPS store. I don’t know why they did this, but they did. But then I opened the watch and started to wind it and the movement isn’t winding the watch for the secondhand to move, so the watch is defective. It’s on its way back to Amazon Amazon now. 🤦🤦‍♂🙈

I did the Seiko shuffle for 7-10 minutes and nothing, nada……

So…….Seiko……..

Rotten luck. Sorry mate.

The SNZG15 is an old generation Seiko 5 with a 7S movement. They don't have hand winding nor hacking. The watch isn't defective.

To wind a 7S you do the famous "Seiko shuffle". Aka you shake it a bit until it comes alive! It's part of the charm!

Not stolen after all? A 7s26 already on its way back for not hand-winding? Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe you should slow down with the assumptions. It might do you a bit of good. 🤷‍♂️

Where did I write “hand wind?” 🧐🤣😂

And of course I’m not going to take it the wrong way, it’s social media with a bunch of strangers 🤣😂; why would I take anything to heart on here.

Anyhow, I did the Seiko shuffle for 7-10 minutes and nothing…..the seconds hand wouldn’t move or keep time. So……I said this to the watch

Thanks Todd 🍻

When I bought the same watch, I found Joma to be $30 cheaper btw. Rough luck. But don’t give up on the brand entirely. I love mine!

You're right, that was my bad assuming you meant hand-wind, when you meant you did the Seiko shuffle. I see you have since edited your post, although I'm not 100% sure of what it may have said originally. I apologize.

Your original post about your watch being stolen got my attention, and I meant to come back to it later to read the comments. I work for a competitor of UPS, so of course I was curious. I'm not going to pretend it doesn't happen, because in over 26 years, I've seen people fired and sometimes arrested for theft. It's always been high dollar items, such as diamond jewelry and iPhones. Something that's easy to flip quickly. When these things happen, it takes a while for corporate security to prosecute. They have to be 100% certain, usually with a trustworthy eyewitness (management) or video footage to ensure it happened. You said a watch was stolen from you before, so you assumed it happened again. Sometimes these things become a pattern, which makes it obvious if someone is stealing. Security may wait to act on something until this pattern emerges and they can find a way to get definitive proof.

I'm not sure how UPS operates, but redirects to places like UPS store, or another cooperating store such as Walgreens or Dollar General are sometimes done so the customer can retrieve their package on their terms, closer to home, especially if it's something that needs a signature. People always show up to pick up a package when the courier may not be back off the road for a couple of hours, or even after the front office closes.

A thing about Seikos, sometimes the balance spring may get hung up, especially if it takes a sharp jolt or drop (like in shipping, perhaps). Sometimes this can be remedied by giving the watch a nice tap against the palm of your hand. Another possible reason for it not working may be if the oils are gunking up the movement, especially on an older discontinued model like this, which may have sat on a shelf for 10 years.

All good points 🍻I edited to add the Seiko shuffle part and the Trump photo; thought it would be funny! 🤣😂🎉🥳

Yeah, UPS stole an iPhone 15 when they first came out……they cut the box, took the phone and taped it back up and delivered an empty box.

2nd time it was a Hamilton, this time it didn’t get redirected…..it sat in the sorting facility for a while, came to my location, then left, then came back and was “delivered,” but never came.

It does happen often, I thought it happened again, but I never asked for the package to get redirected, so don’t know what that was about this time.

Anyhow, thanks for the info! 🍻
