In a world of copies and boring evolution, the RO was disruptive. Not just design, but the steel sport watch as luxury. The Nautilus, if not a copy, only existed because of the RO.
Plus the ears look weird.
It is weird. For example the Milgauss 116400 was released in 2007 but it was just discontinued in 2023. Just a few more years and Rolex would basically be selling a vintage watch at retail.
Maybe it should be 20 years from the discontinuation of the reference?
If you were in a room of 100 men, I think about 30 of them would have wrist sizes smaller than you and 70 larger.
