My Rolex AD surprised me

Went in to have a chat today. I put my name down on a Datejust 41 mint green last year and I wanted to find out where I was on the list. We had a serious geek out and great chat about my collection and where the industry was. To my surprise he took out his tablet, typed in my name and showed me the list, I am half way up the list and he think next year i will get one. So the lists do exist and they do progress. Thing is I went in to have a bit of a showdown, and to tell them if they didn’t come up with the goods I was going down the street to Omega to get an AquaTerra small seconds. In the end I think I will get both 😂😂😂

It would have been a nicer surprised if he presented you the watch then and there and you went home with the watch you’ve been waiting for!! I was bit bummed he only showed you the list like the other people on there are real… lol

After being on WC for only a short while I feel I can now ask: You mean to tell me all those names on the Rolex list aren’t aliases for @Ichibunz 🧐?

Yikes… having to wait nearly two years for a 41mm Datejust is madness.

It’s nuts however, it’s not stopping me, I would wait 10 years for a Roger Smith.

My point was that there is a real list and it’s not made up, I knew several people on the list. The AD told me how many they get allocated per year. There was a genuine attempt by the AD to give me clarity of the process.

now… are people able to jump the list? I don’t know. Is there preferential treatment? I don’t know. At no time did the AD suggest I buy anything to get me further ip or anything like this. He stated the opposite, that they work the list in order, if anyone can’t receive a watch (skint at the time of the call) then the next on the list gets the option to buy.

I was thinking exactly the same thing!

I think the list policy must vary between ADs, because mine has told be very openly that there is absolutely not a waiting list. He just gives the watches to whoever he thinks wants them most.

I should speak to your AD, I can be really pathetic and want a watch the mostest!! 😂

I am emailing him weekly to tell him how much I want one.

He replied to the first 4.... now he doesn't bother 😂

And how does he judge that? Does he make you fight in underground parking lots, dressed in a red velvet robe?

I just wear iwc Cartier breitling iwatch casios omega. I don't care for any rolex other than blro, and never over retail..

·

I’m the same, I would not pay over retail.

A tablet?? My AD has a green Rolex branded notebook where he handwrites in your details. I saw him flick past pages and pages of peoples info to a fresh sheet for me where he wrote my name, email, postcode, the watch I want and the words "existing customer" (i've bought two Longines from him).

It's very clear that I am not on a waiting list.

They had a full list of each watch model and then a drop down into a details page. I got to see the full process, it was transparent however as I said above, if there was a high spender after me in the list I don’t know if the bunnyhop people. I raised this exact point and of course he said that never happens however I think we all suspect that there are ADs out there who do this.
