Edit:  That's really an unfair joke for someone using a language that may not be their own. It's not like I am taking it down, but I am sort of apologizing.

Edit #2: The answer for me depends on other stylistic things going on with the dial.  I have a lot of stick hands, sword hands, and dauphine hands because of the era of watches I collect.  I like something less ordinary when it fits the watch, like Breguet hands. I like color on second hands.

I quite like cathedral hands. No idea why, as Marge Simpson says "I just think they're neat"

I like to mix and match. I'm looking for an Omega minute hand to go with my BB snowflake hour hand and my Milgauss second hand.

  1. Lume-filled sword hands, Flieger style, e.g. on IWC pilot watches
  2.  Blued steel hands, e.g. on Stowa, Omega Aqua Terra (grey dial)

Visibility is important for me, so I find the alpha hands on my Speedmaster 57 to be just about the best of any of my watches. The angle of the facets on the hands means that the hands always seem to be able to capture whatever small amount of available light is available, making it super legible in any lighting situation. Most people tend to prefer the arrow hands on the Speedmaster 57, but they have the disadvantage of obscuring the chrono dials, making them less appealing as far as I'm concerned. There is a marked difference in length between the hour and minute hands, making it easy to differentiate between them. The minute hand extends far enough to reach the minute track, but narrows to a point so that it doesn't obscure it.  The hands are also lumed, so that the watch is also easy to read should I wake up in the middle of the night. If this watch was just a tad smaller and thinner, it would probably be my favorite watch.
