After reading several posts about letting go of watches you like but do not often wear, I sold the Aqua Terra:
and bought a Grand Seiko:
The stock strap doesn't fit my wrist unfortunately ๐ข
So, I put it on a Forstner bracelet and ordered a blue leather strap after seeing them on the same watch in a Hodinkee article.
Overall, I am pleased with this trade and am planning to sell off a few more pieces to fund a new watch purchase in the near future.

Changing subjects entirely and a spoiler alert: A dive watch has a prominent role in this week's episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Fair trade. I like both. I have the same strap problem. Big wrist, what do you do?

If I am dealing with an AD, I have the rep order an XL from the watch maker or third party. One is on the way for the GS.
I tend to wear bracelets because of the size issue and there are many options. Because I wanted a blue leather strap, I am trying out mancave leather (https://www.mancaveleather.com). Time Teller recommends them. The company has a lot of info on sizing and strap choices so I am taking a shot.
If I am looking for less expensive straps in a variety of materials, I shop at the usual suspects: Amazon, Barton, StrapHabit, StrapCode, Long Island Watch and AliExpress. Amazon is usually my first stop for sub-$75 straps because of the easy return process.
Which AD you deal with my AD texted me this last week lolโฆ

Weโre in the same boat. Straps are hard to find. A large watch helps. Even with a bigger watch and an XL steap Iโm on the last hole. Let me know what you find. I kinda gave up.

Will do.

You gotta get custom made! Try @Jericho!

Iโm going to check him out. Thank you very much for the lead.
That's a pretty good trade. Congrats on the lovely GS! That's a beauty for sure.

Of course! I've got something like 20 straps custom-made from him so far and counting. If all you need is extra length, that should be super easy!
Hey, do I spy another Watch Enthusiast Trekker? ๐

Guilty as charged! Iโll watch Final Frontier when it comes on. You got to be deep in the weeds to appreciate that reference and movie.

Donโt let my wife know. She thinks Iโm long enough. ๐
From experience, it's kinda hard going for another watch once you get used to the GS, which runs counter to how it goes with most mechanical watches since you normally have to adjust them besides the usual date change that usually happens 4 times a year to address the eventual time variance, which supposedly creates a connection between you and the watch. Amusingly, it's reliability is the thing that's strengthening that connection, considering how it even gets to stay more accurate than the time that you see on your cellphone or PC(as per time.gov's comparison, at least).
Initially wanted to rotate between my e277 and my Mako Frost to maintain power reserve between both and yep, kinda hard. The Spring Drive signature glide's somewhat mesmerizing to enjoy as well during moments of downtime and no other mechanical can really offer that kind of experience.

Great post! It will take some time before I buy another GS. If I can it will likely be the SBGJ239. It was a close call this time around.

Buy extra links or order the extra long strap from the manufacturer. Sometimes the AD even throws those things in when they can't discount the watch price. ๐

I prefer the Voyage Home however.
Congrats on the GS, its a fantastic watch. A constant headache for me as well is the short strap problem, always an issue with the large wrist.

Thanks. I am thinking of getting a custom strap as @HotWatchChick69 suggested. QR spring bars on a custom strap would be the chefโs kiss.
Upgrade, in my opinion. Well done!
