NWA: Seiko SPB297J1 "Save the Ocean" ๐ŸŒŠ

Hi everyone,

I could not resist when I found a great deal for this one.

It is my first Seiko and I am very impressed. The way the dial interacts with different lighting situations is absolutely stunning.

I do already own a dive watch, the Baltic Aquascaphe, but this one feels very different. It is probably the more technical look and the stark white print that make this one feel more sporty and modern. For many the two would probably be too close to each other, but I guess I am far enough down the rabbit hole to think I need them both.

So far my only negative is the bezel action, which is not very "clicky". But the alignment is very good, so it does not really bother me.

I think it will get a lot of wrist time, since it goes really well with jeans and more casual outfits. Also in the summer I think the dial will really shine.

Have a great weekend!

Welcome to the Seiko 62mas club. You can play around with a lot of strap options and this watch looks good on everything.

Seiko bezel action is different to most watch brands out there cause it is more dampened than clicky.

Congratulations on the new watch. It is a great watch for the summer, especially with that ocean dial.

I just picked up the SPB147, though I wish it was this one. I had to get something sporty for the upcoming Texas heat. I heard the about the bezel action being a little dull, I guess its not too bad as long as it lines up.

I just tried this on at an AD today! Fell in love for better or for worse lol. Iโ€™m trying to find a good deal on this one. So far, highest discount I have been able to get quoted so far is $200.

Sounds reasonable. I got 200โ‚ฌ off here in Germany bringing it very close to a used offer I found in a forum.

Can I ask what you paid? I am looking on secondary market...I offered one guy $750 on Choro24, he declined, now he is down to $800 asking price on Chrono.

Also how do you find the accuracy? I owned 2 SPB 143's and the movement's accuracy was pretty bad.

I currently have a Tudor Pelagos 39mm and a Seiko SKX 007 that are my only two divers. I saw a YouTube video on the 297 and was intrigued. Thanks.

Sure, I paid an even 1000โ‚ฌ for it brand new (down from 1250โ‚ฌ). That is including tax. Not sure how the prices are in the US, but here in Germany I found some good used pieces at around 900โ‚ฌ, so I decided the extra 100โ‚ฌ were worth it to get it new.

The accuracy is fine for me. It runs way better than the accuracy Seiko states. I rotate my watches almost every day so I have to wind and set it almost every time I put it on. Over one or two days I didn't notice anything significant. I would say it is not a watch to just pull from a winder after a month without having to adjust it, though.
