History Of Tissot (And Its Shared Heritage With Omega)

Even its portfolio of "entry level" brands is impressive, which includes Hamilton, Certina, and of course - Tissot. The history of Tissot experienced a paradigm shift when it merged with Omega
The Swatch Group is home to many prestigious brands such as Blancpain, Breguet, and Glashütte Original. It owns iconic brands like Omega and Longines. Even its portfolio of “entry level” brands is impressive, which includes Hamilton, Certina, and of course – Tissot. The history of Tissot experienced a paradigm shift when it merged with Omega in 1930. This was one of the foundational steps down a very long road that would inevitably lead to the formation of the powerhouse Swatch Group of today.

Tissot have some nice pieces in their repertoire. The reissued PRX is a complete masterstroke. A colleague of mine has just purchased a PowerMatic 80 with the blue waffle dial and I am exceptionally jealous.
Great article! Definitely adjusts my perspective on Tissot from just ”another” Swatch group brand. I’ve always known they’ve had a both history and heritage (they like to constantly remind us by putting the year they were established… which I hate 😂 from a design perspective) but just never bothered to read into so really appreciate the window into their storied past! 🍻
