Alcohol is bad for acrylic. The universal "damp cloth with mild soap if needed" I guess.

·

Bought my Mrs a Cartier and got a cleaning kit with it..... needless to say that kit soon got conscripted by me. ( Pretty much a soft toothbrush, dry microfiber cloth and generic "jewellery cleaning solution")

·

Baby wipes…unused baby wipes 💩

Noted, thanks for the tips!

I typically use glasses cleaner, as I wear glasses and have multiple bottles of cleaner/microfiber cloths stashed around the house and office.

For normally cleaning, microfiber sheets and jewelry cleaning liquid should be sufficient. For serious cleaning such as annual clean, take off any watch strap that is not water resistant and submerge your watch in a ultrasonic cleaner. These are used widely by ADs and jewelry stores.

Wow, thanks for the knowledge shared man! I didn't even know that we supposed to have such a deep clean with this ultrasonic cleaner, I will look for it! Thank you!

You are welcome. I learned this from one of the ADs, they just use distilled water and ultrasonic cleaner to keep their 2nd hand watch stock sparkling like new:)

From my personal experience, I took my watch to hiking and boating etc, and over time sweat and dirt built up, I found ultrasonic clean can get rid of these built up without damaging the watch surfaces. No wonder folks use bigger and more powerful ultrasonic cleaner to clean vinyl records as well.

Um, do you mean cleaning an empty watch case? Because ultrasound is a fine way to sneak water into a watch's movement.

Yes, there is such a risk, same as wearing your watch to shower or swim.

My personal experience is that any watch model with a screw in crown & water resistance rating of 10 bar or greater will be safe. But your miles might vary :)

Thanks again my friend! I'll schedule a once a year deep cleaning in these exact terms!
