1989 Technos Skydiver Restored - History

As well as everybody here, I love a watch that has a history behind it, and this one has a nice one.

My father in law bought this Technos Skydiver in the UK in 1989 when he was travelling for his work. At this time Technos was still a swedish owned company, and along with that came all the traditional watch making history.

A couple of months ago when I was talking about Rock, Wine and Watches with my father in law, he saw how much I liked these sweet time measurement devices, and gave me two of his old watches.

The watch was undoubtedly beaten and it needed some love, as you can see in the first picture.

Despite of that, I was hugely thankful for this gift, and in the next week I went to a watch restorer - Mr. Erivaldo - with over 40 years of experience, even older than the watch itself.

Mr. Erivaldo told me that it was a nice watch indeed, and said that it would make it shine bright again and to last 40 more years!

He change the old silver machine inside for a gold one, that is ever rarer! The only thing he didn't have was an identical back with the 100 meters display.

I changed the bracelet because Im not a fan of the metal ones, but the original is well kept, but Im considering changing again to an higher quality leather.

That's it, I hope you liked it!

What a cracking result. There will be people who say that you should have let it all bashed up however in reality i bet you will not have worn it that way. Your approach has given you a nice watch that im sure you will enjoy 😉

Thanks for the comment my friend! I understand people who would say that I should have left it in that state that it was, but if I did that, the watch would only deteriote, and eventually it would stop working. After all, the ideia is to make a watch last as much as possible!

My ideia was to give new life to an nice watch, so maybe one day, my son would appreciate it just like it did!
