I wasn't going to do it..
My first 'real watch' was a 36mm version of this Rolex. I think it was less then 2k back in the late 70's..We discovered one of the movers stole it when we moved. Sadly I had left it in my dresser drawer because it was do to go in for service..We were building our house and everything stayed in storage for about 6 months and when I did discover to gone it was to late...So....when I got the call from my Jeweler I said Okay. Amazing how once she heard the story of my last one she said" I'll get you the 41mm new one" and she did in about three weeks...It was crazy money (but less than MSRP) I'll enjoy it..

Lovely lovely piece. How do you like the white dial on it? Is it too stark or does it blend nicely with the two tone. I’ve been eying a two tone, but not sure push come to shove which dial color I’d choose. Also, does the white make it seem larger than it wears?
I never even considered the 2 tone DJ until I saw yours! Fantastic looking watch! Glad you were able to get one!

Excellent looking! When I get a DJ, it will likely be the exact same combo. As much as I love my Sub, when I hear the name Rolex, I picture a two tone yellow gold Datejust!

I prefer the white dial it is much easier for me to read. The black dial looked 'to dressy' I had the white dial before but with romman numbers.

A couple of hundred, yes.. In fairness i have been doing business with them sense 1978. I purchased numerous Omega's and Tudor's from them. Also earlier I replaced my 36mm Gold president with the new 40mm Gold piece. I think the wait list thing is bogus..I have wanted to get the new Sub but that was not happening but when she heard my story of losing my older Date-Just she jumped right on it. I think they can do whatever they want.

I kind of agree, it’s like they are the gatekeepers. I’m sure Rolex probably sees it like that too, they distribute their watches to their dealer network and they wipe their hands. It’s not like Rolex had a fire at a production facility and has only been able to kick out a 1/4 of the watches they were doing.

They definitely can. Shocked you couldn't quickly get a Sub. Also, shocked to hear of any discounts no matter if two tone or women's watches. I haven't bought either but I know my AD isn't discounting Rolex. Congrats!
