Budding watchmakers? And what to expect?
Kinda like the idea of seeing what young artisan watchmaker have up their sleeve and support their craft, yet at a budget I can access.
Do such makers adopt movements or craft from scratch?
Any that come to mind?
And what kind of quality would I expect of their work?

Are watchmakers inspired to design their own watch or their own movement I wonder….
I'm learning to be a watchmaker, but that's more servicing, repairing and restoring than building my own movements and cases. Word of advice, if I were to produce a watch with my name on the dial, just know it'll be cobbled together in a shed, but sold at an affordable price.
Considering what this company is doing/has done, Trilobe is very interesting and . . . yes, some of these are maybe on the higher end for some folks . . . but I think they are punching above their weight and their non-precious metal models are still somewhat accessible outside of the super wealthy (as in these aren't icon Patek, Lange, Vacheron, and complicated MB&F prices). I predict this company will rise quite a bit in the coming years. They've already made a bit of a splash. Apparently the fairly young founder decided to make his own luxury watch since he couldn't afford his dream Lange Zeitwerk. A proprietary movement called the X-Centric was made for the watch. While the founder (mostly a designer not a watchmaker) of the company did not invent the movement itself, he worked with a company in Switzerland to develop it.
On the more affordable end there's of course Studio Underd0g . . . the founder uses a Seagull Chronograph movement, but the party is all on these fun dials. I do hope that they eventually upgrade movements at some pt though to a workhorse Sellita or ETA. The founder is very young. I'd include Fears here, but I think that's not wholly fair since the younger founder there is actually reimagining models from his family watch company that ceased production several decades ago but had been in existences for many, many decades prior.
