Hello! 😀

Hi Everyone, I’m a fairly recent convert into the watch world, my addiction started in the last couple of years really. I feel that I’ve only scratched the surface of what there is to know, but I’m excited to learn more (and obviously collect more) My first “proper” watch was a Longines Spirit Zulu Time (which I’ve recently put on a green rubber strap as seen here). What was your first watch?

Hi there, well done you!, I've been collecting and flipping for years, I still haven't got anything as nice as that Longines !😕 welcome aboard.

Amazing pick! And welcome to the community. I just joined myself and very happy to share this passion without shame 😅 the world just doesn’t understand us

The term, proper watch, irks me. Are we inferring that one simply can't be called proper unless one has Swiss Made on the dial? Is a quartz watch not expensive enough to be a proper watch?

My first informed watch purchase was a Citizen Eco Drive, not a proper watch apparently, and I still don't own a proper watch. Shame on me.

No for me it just meant the first watch I researched and thought-over before buying. I’d had random watches years ago but never considered myself a collector. This to me is my first “proper” serious purchase, but that term means something different to everyone and also may not be used by everyone - which is fine. For me it symbolises my entry into watch collecting. If it helps I consider other purchases since then as proper watches, including my £20 Casios 👍
