A Steel Navigator is Coming

Like the title says, Marathon is releasing a 316L stainless Navigator on 21 Apr.

The details so far are:

  1. 316 L stainless case

  2. 41mm diameter

  3. Swiss quartz movement

More details and pictures will be released in the lead-up to the release date. If it has a screw-down crown and 60-100m WR I think it will be a big seller.

I already have two watches on the way, but I think I'll be ordering this as well.

I have been waiting for this release for a long time!

I'm interested to see what they do, it seems like they are looking to cater to watch enthusiasts with this release.

I'm so excited. 🤩

Ooh, this might be interesting!

I just want a 38-39mm GSAR with auto. 41 is too big, 46 is a joke and 36 is too small for the thickness.

I find the 41mm GSAR wears well, but I have an ~7" wrist. Same goes for the 41mm Navigator, it just fits my wrist very well.

I will say the GSAR 41 I owned wore well, the short lug-to-lug really helps. 39mm would be perfection. 19cm wrist.

Only thing that would tip it over the edge for me would be an automatic movement in there too. If they had that option this would easily be my new daily!!

I suspect they may end up doing one, they seem to be trying to produce what the enthusiasts want.

Their bread and butter was/is government contracts, but they seem to now be pushing a bit more into the enthusiast/collector space, the "Arctic" SAR models are a perfect example of it.

Great point! I do love the GSARs and the brands heritage. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

That's the actual case width, the 41 number is the bezel diameter as it overhangs the case by about 2mm.

Will have to look it over again. No wonder it wore well. Seemed small for 41mm in photos I look back on but I last owned the GSAR back 8-9 years ago.
