The art of the frankenwatch and learning as I go

So I decided to try and learn the basics of putting together a watch.. as I shopped through various spare parts watches accross the web, aside from the “Rolex” clasp I found at a second hand store coupe years ago for around $10z

The casing is from a Tissot Seastar Quartz

The movement is a basic Omega 1430 quartz

Lastly the Rolex clasp I mention aboved

And the back plate as donated from an old Lorus I had given to me years ago randomly by a friend.

The goal here it get it up and running have a few more small things to do..

Step 2 of my learning experience will be to source some kind of good working older Swiss automatic movement with the right dimensions , and attempt to put it together.

After that I will source a back plate with the right clearance that will fit..

I am not a fan of frankenwatches as people generally try and pull the wool over someone’s eyes and make a quick, this however is borderline comical but it’s been a fun experience so far and will be a momento to “building” my first watch..

Will post updates once it’s pieced together Exaclty like FRANKENSTEIN!😂

I do the same, as I am Indian and there are abduant supply of old broken down mechanical watches mostly old se Seiko 5 , Hmt and Ricoh.

So i buy couple of then $3 per piece. And try to fix them. Unfortunately they are just good enough to learn the parts and get that hand dexterity.

Most of the good stuff is taken by the franken market here and sold on amazon, Ali express, ebay and etsy.
