No new "Glassbox" chronograph yet? NP. Got something that holds me over for a while.

I really like the new TAG Heuer "Glassbox" Carreras. But, until I can afford one, these Watches & Wonders novelties inspire me to look back at my collection. As such, I am enjoying my Seiko Prospex SBEC005 Speedtimer tribute with a nice boxed sapphire crystal sitting proudly above the lovely detailed dial and near GS finish to the case and bracelet today.

Yes, this isn't supposed to be a 1:1 reissue of their vintage mechanical chronographs. But, reference the 6138-8020 specifically and you'll see A LOT of similarities in the dial details and case shape. I appreciate the modern reinterpretation of one of Seiko's vintage classics. I'll drop a screen grab of the vintage model for quick visual reference. Sorry, I got this image quite a while ago so I don't know who made the image. But, I'll give credit to whoever to the original photo for the 6138-8020.

Both are striking! Love the new one, though.
