Worn & Wound Wind-Up Watch Fair San Francisco 2024

I went to the first day of the 2024 Worn & Wound Wind-Up Watch Fair in San Francisco, Friday 5/3/2024. it was very cool to go again at the new and larger venue at Fort Mason.

It was a beautiful day. And, anyone fearing to go to this event because it's in SF is straight trippin'! Don't be afraid to live and go out and enjoy life because of focusing on highlighted negative light which is such a small percentage of what life is really like in my home town. Enough of the rant...

This is just a video I quickly put together of some of the photos and videos I shot just before and at the event. I just wanted to give a brief description of the space and I captured the stuff that interested me the most. I have a few more pics I took with my other camera. But, this is just what I had on my phone to quickly mash together and upload.

I wish I could go again tomorrow or Sunday. But, I have other things to do this weekend.

I didn't leave with any new watch today. But, it did get me thinking about a few at the show and some not.

What were your favorite watches you saw?

I'll try and compose my thoughts and give some feedback. Kind of a lot to process.

I would say the new CW Twelve X was nicer in person. Let's say feeling and seeing it in the metal maybe adds a little more justification for the high price tag. I still feel, for me, a bit more expensive than I'd personally want to pay for it. But, it is a very nice watch and nicely executed for what it is. That new big moonphase does do anything for me.

The new limited edition Fears Brunswick 38 Topper Edition "Silver Sector" was pretty sweet in person. Truly limited to just 40 pieces, it instantly got my attention at their table and asked, is that new? And, yes, it is just launched today.

Seeing a Straum Jan Mayen in person was impressive. The dials are so nice. And, the overall build quality fit and finish all the way through really exudes excellence. Not too bad for the price, actually. Just wish they still had more of the red dial version.

Horage was nice to see. I actually like the square one I may see in the photos in the video that has a cool exposure triangle function for the photo nerds. Good stuff in all aspects. But, a bit pricier than what I may want to spend on such watches.

I like seeing the new Space One Tellurium in the metal was very cool. I think for the design and the price, it's actually pretty good compared to the high horology offerings. It's much more wearable than one might think looking at the funky shape and complication they got into it. Kind of tempting for a wild card kind of watch.

I actually really liked the Xeric Invertor II. Might back that Kickstarter champagne. Someone had a M.A.D 1 there. Other than maybe the brand weight differences between similar watch designs, I think the Xeric is done better and appears to wear better than the M.A.D 1.

These are just some of the ones that stood out to me. Most are different and I get easily tired of the new overly hyped watches just because they are. Not that they are bad and maybe not hype worthy (with exceptions, ehh.. that KITH Heuer thing), I just tend to look away and try to find something maybe less known and over the moon about.

My pleasure to share. I didn't find any fellow Crunchers out there today. Saturday will probably be the busiest. Too bad the weather will be crappier with some rain.. but, it may not last that long and at least you'll be inside. Venue is pretty much at the end of the Fort Mason Park area. Parking is plentiful and close to the venue and I would say safe and secure enough. But, always hide your valuable to be extra safe.
